Ashridge Misty autumn

Ashridge Misty autumn

£80.00

There is a small patch of Ashridge estate that continues to draw me in time and time again. On the map it’s known as Crawley Wood, and sitting 249m above sea level it is in fact higher than Ivinghoe Beacon, just with out that glorious view.

If it’s calm woodland that you seek, this small patch is just what you’re after. My first visit was long before the ( stick paths ) were put in, to help protect the spring bluebells. These paths now however form many a focus for my images. This small patch has become my stopping point often before i head off somewhere else for the day, and because of this I get to see it in all its seasonal glory.

Because of this I’m planning to document its ever changing moods over the course of the British seasons. I’m not sure where I found this little snippet of text but I feel it rings true for this very project.

“If you go about capturing individual, unrelated pictures, you'll end up with a nice enough set of photos, but you won't come close to exploring photography's full potential.

By committing to a series - whether it's about a place, a person or whatever interests you - you're able to tell a very carefully constructed story: one where the specific style and order of photographs is essential to their meaning. A story that articulates what you really feel.”
